again, just kind of here

ugh. when will this end? it does kind of wear me out having a sick kid. he's mildly sick, nothing serious, just hasn't shaken it. in fact, he was bouncing around all morning. i gave up after lunch and laid on the couch. fell asleep while he was narrating something to me about something or other.

then we took j10 to the eye doctor for an eye exam, with d6, just along for the ride.

ok, the people working there commented on my reading skills. i'm just sayin. if you need someone to read a reptile book out loud in public you should call me.

yeah, the eye exam was so fun. j10 kind of freaked out and the eye doctor (who does not have children) started quizzing me about him, had he been through anything traumatic, blah blah blah.

i'm standing there in my really ratty cardigan, hair drooping, cold coming on, makeup? i have no idea if i got that far today. i'm standing there exhausted and wanting to say 'well, he's had me for a mother for 10 years? whatcha think that's been like? traumatic?

but i didn't. i gave her a mini lecture on sensory integration disorder, got him settled back in the chair and focused and then high-tailed it for home when it was over and took a little nap at 5:00 p.m.

i swear some day i'm going to get my sense of humor back.

I'm glad you're here...even if it's just kind of! :)

It's been a really tough winter for the kids' colds. My oldest son had a cough for almost a MONTH!! It sucked.

You're doing great. Just hang on and things will get better.

I'm tired of the sickness too. Isn't it just about spring yet?

I hear you on the gripes about doctors and SID. Our nightmare experience was with a pediatric dentist. We warned him ahead of time and asked if he had previous experience. He reassured us he had. Um. NOT.

I know how you feel about your sense of humor. I really have to dig deep these days. I want to post SOMETHING today, but I can feel my eyes drooping... And everything I come up with is about as interesting as a grocery list.

Maybe you just need spring?

You'll get your groove back, I know it. What we all need is for the winter to end!

It really is shocking when doctors don't get it about kids with sensory issues. Traumatic...yeah.

And so lovely when people do get it.

Sorry your little guy is sick. I'm smiling as I read your post. Especially falling asleep to the chatterbox! My bouncing boy is with me in the bed, me with lap top - he watching the Upside Down Show. I'm fighting some virus now for 2 weeks. He had it last week...

You're kidding right? What were they gonna do, call DFACS? Where do these people get off? Please don't take your child back there again. AND you know where i live if you need a sitter..even for a sick kid...we've got worse bugs around here than a cough...Actually, I think Troll 2 has a cough so D6 would be right at home!

I think excellently reading reptile books is quite a worthy skill!

Here and still funny. That counts for something.

Here's to spring. I'm banking on it being the ticket.

Are you available for getting kids to do their book reports?

Worth a shot.

That doctor needs to learn a couple of things. Good grief.

ugh. I can only imagine what that was like. We have been a little over-reactionary at my house lately.

I don't think it counts as a loss of sense of humor if you can still refer to one.
